BFA Postcard '06

I started off hating this project. I was asked to design a card for the BFA Show which I was happy to do. The weird thing was that a poster had already been designed for the show and the card had to match the poster in some way. It was odd to me that they didn’t just have the student who designed the poster do the card, of course now I see that they were just trying to give students opportunities to get some work.

Anyway. I had a really hard time sticking with the original theme of the poster while not just copying it. Eventually I ended up taking the colors and the 3D theme of the original and making into something that would be very eye catching and pretty but also still have a concept.

My one regret with this project is that I did not make the card so that you could tile them and have the colors match up. Other than that I love this piece very much and count in among my favorites.
